Shift application! (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Thts-atiny1
Been with Starbucks almost a year, and I’m going out for shift supervisor. My manager encouraged me to apply, (I was going to before she did) but I feel unprepared for the interview. Does anyone know what types of questions get asked? All advice welcome (especially if you recently had to interview too or are a SM).

so usually they want you to go through the development training first, which is about coaching and teaches you the LATTE and STAR methods. if you’re not doing that, make sure you’re coaching the heck out of partners and watching for coaching moments because that is the biggest thing.

How do you coach but not micromanage? I feel like there’s a fine line.

noticing small things that can be done better (sequencing, beverages being right, making sure people are greeted and standards are being followed), try to coach once and watch if they take your coaching and apply it. if not coach again using the star method, third time i’d they’re still not getting it let your sm know

I haven’t had a shift interview before but I’ve seen this question asked on this page. I’ve heard it’s a lot of situation questions. “Tell us a problem you had and how you resolved it”. Use the LATTE model to answer, they love when you use Starbucks references. Keep talking and tell a story! You got this!
