What’s the best way to be better? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I asked my shifts what they think I could improve. The main two were staying in a planted position and not over sharing with customer while doing a customer connection.

For me with the planted position one, I cannot stand customers just standing around if there stuff is just sitting there waiting to be tossed out. So if I’m on warming and I’m going down there anyway, I push stuff out. If I’m on drive thru, I push stuff out. I told my asm how I pushed a lot of people out and they were happy. My asm didn’t care, she told me good job.

The oversharing is whatever, I get that but we are only human.

On top of that, I feel like I keep messing up everyday. I don’t know who to keep happy, customers or the shifts. There’s no winning at the end of the day.

It kinda sounds like they want you to try balancing? Like keep the customer connection to a certain point but also making sure you are focusing at your work?

I work at a mall location and we get CRAZY busy all the time. We had a few partners in the past where their customer connection was amazing but to a certain point we all said they talk to much. If they are on register, yes it is amazing you are doing it, but you also gotta think about people behind the line because nowdays people see sbux as fast food chain and they will start rolling their eyes if partners/baristas are just “wasting” their time chatting with other customers and not making their drinks and food fast enough.

I am also like you. And I have been told to stay planted since I like to help out if other partners need help. I was frustrated as well since i was just trying to help to get things out of the away. But at the end of the day, im a barista, i do things that ssv and managers tell me to do and if anything happens i just leave it since they should take care of it and it’s their responsibility 🤷🏻‍♀️

They are, I talk to a customer about their day and where they are headed and literally anything. I push customer connection a lot. My asm told my manager about how good I’m doing on connections. I just don’t know. I can’t people please anyone anymore :/
