If I quit, will I be rehire-able in the future? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Brilliant-Cod-9083
Im starting up school again, and I don’t think I will be able to keep up with the stress of this job right now. My SM is extremely emotionally abusive and manipulative- I was thinking of just transferring stores and cutting down my availability, but one of my co workers tried to do that previously and my SM wrote her up as “untransferable”. I want to quit, and just apply again at a new store in the future when im ready again. Will I be able to be rehired if I quit now? And if I apply at another store, will they contact my current SM asking about me? Im a good worker and don’t think she would have anything bad to say about me, but she is very entitled and I can name multiple times where partners have done similar things to her and she twisted the story to impact them negatively because of how prideful and egotistical she is.

if you haven’t gotten in too much trouble and quit peacefully, you should be rehireable. but, sometimes horrible managers write “unhireable” (which she could do in your case) but if you apply at other stores, let them know of the situation and i’m sure they’d be more than willing to take you on to the team again.

but also, have you tried calling the ethics hotline to get her reported? since you want to quit, i’d say quit first and then call ethics hotline that way it doesn’t put you in hot water with her and her writing “unhireable” in your file

Unless you quit without notice and have a ton of infractions or you were fired you are automatically rehireable. A manager can not label you either way. Its corporate who will make that distinction. It’s rare for a manager to speak to another manager regarding a rehire, so there is no opportunity for the previous manager to make the partner look bad.
