Let’s do some simple math (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by michal_angelo
Where I live in Florida, the starting pay for baristas is $12/hr and then $12.60/hr for those who have been w the company for 2+ years as of the December raise. Also where I live, a Grande Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso with no modifications is $6.66. As baristas, we all know it takes around 90 seconds to make two of those, and that’s my approximation with the old machines. So, theoretically, we can produce over our entire hourly wage in 90 seconds. Also, there’s been three price increases alone this year, a month after those 2+ year partners got their raises.

Just sayin 🤷🏻‍♀️

That the $12/hr wage, and even the $15/hr wage, is honestly insulting with all of these price increases. I am one barista, at one store, and in 90 seconds i can make the company more than they are willing to compensate me for an hour of my time and labor. Not to mention the policy to hire more partners rather than give current partners more hours even when requested, making this “competitive” hourly wage result in a paycheck equal to or less than other places that have products much cheaper than Starbucks.
