Wrist Pain (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by TrippyBanz
Has anyone else developed soreness/pain in their wrists? I’m suffering after every shift and was wondering what I could do to reduce this?

Are you on bar a lot?

You might be developing carpal tunnel or tendinitis.

I'd recommend wrist braces to sleep in. And possibly take to work.
Not really health code safe to wear the braces on bar or warming though. But other store areas may be fine.

And look up some pt online.

I developed carpal tunnel from the repetitive motion of pouring milk, pumping syrup and doing frappucinos.

You can get a wrist brace from the store for extra support. I used it at work sometimes or would wear it to bed.

yes. i have wrist issues and starbucks def makes it flair up. only advice i have is wear a brace during your shift to keep it in place more and then ice it and stuff at home. let me know if you figure out any other hacks though! i could use it too!

I worked there for a little over two years and oddly enough never had wrist pain…I feel like I have lasting neck issues though. I was on bar pretty much all the time so I guess my neck was usually in a looking down position .

My right wrist sometimes hurts after food and handling the tongs for a long time (i’m not on bar enough to have them hurt from that), but sometimes when the DTO line is long they send me outside to take orders on the iPad and that will fuuuuuck my wrist up for a few days after!!
