Do you find it weird when someone gives you their last name when taking their order? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I always ask for names when taking orders (as you should) but when someone says their name is Smith, Jones etc I wonder why. We're in a restaurant not in the army. Isn't literally everyone on first name terms these days?

Hi, it's me, I'm one of these people lol. I have a unique foreign first name and don't always like having to explain it or spell it when I'm trying to just grab a quick coffee. It makes it easier for everyone <3

Well some places use a last initial (like Panera lol) to avoid confusion if there’s two Nate’s or whatever so I assume that’s why
