Sidenote: I don't consider this screenshot sensitive information, let me know if it's an issue

This information is available on the Partner Hub.

Protected Sick Time: This is sick time you accrued in the current calendar year, plus up to 80 hours of any accrued sick time from the previous calendar year. Your job is protected when you use Protected Sick Time.

Extended Sick Time: This is any remaining sick time you accrued from the previous calendar year, up to 440 hours. If you use Extended Sick Time, your job is only protected when you use it in conjunction with an approved, job-protected leave of absence.

In essence, you can use protected sick time to call out as needed and/or schedule time off for health reasons. Extended sick time is meant to be used during a leave of absence.

Thank you! I was having trouble finding that info.

So basically up to 80hrs rolls over each year and the rest is saved for LOA or like, Covid sick pay?

Pretty much. You can have a total of 520 hours roll over from year to year, but most of that is reserved for extended sick time. This makes sense to me, 80 hours would be over 2 weeks of work for most people and at that point you should be on leave if you need more.

To make it more concrete: if I earned 100 hour so sick time this year, 80 of that would become protected sick time automatically at the start of the next year, and 20 would be reserved as extended sick time.

Okay so when I moved from one state to another I believe that it was explained to me that protected is the minimum you’ve accrued in the state that has the lowest sick time and the extended it what’s over in your state. So when I moved from a state with a higher rate of sick leave I lost however much to match the state i was moving too. (Basically let’s say in Oregon you earn 0.5 hours of sick leave per hour worked and the minimum in Kansas is 0.25 per hour then your protected would be 1 for 4 hours worked and your extended would be another hour)
I may be completely wrong so sorry if I am

Is this something that a regular barista can find?
ihateyousoymatcha [OP] 1 points 1y ago
Yes, it's under Partner Information in the Partner Hours Self Service. There's a link in one of the comments
