I'd like to apply to work as a starbucks barista but this would be my 1st job ever & i have lots of anxiety so this is all very scary and new for me. I'm scared that I'll fuck up & won't be able to be a good barista & I'm scared of the people and the conversations and all that. any advice? i think i should just straight up go for it but I'm also scared of disappointing people, like my coworkers or my manager and stuff. overall, I'm just very anxious.

I think Starbucks is a great way to learn a lot of skills that you need in life. time management, conversating with strangers, multitasking, and learning how to lean on others for help are just a few off the top of my head. the point is that i feel a great sense of community working at starbucks and although it’s stressful, the feeling that you get out of the job is very rewarding. i would definitely recommend it as your first introduction to the working society (:

if you’ve never been a barista before, let alone never had a job before, absolutely nobody is going to judge you or be hard on you! it is more difficult to be bad at this job than it is to be good. it can be overwhelming at first learning all the drinks but it becomes muscle memory! i also had a lot of anxiety about my first ever job (which was also a drive thru) but once you get the hang of it you do it like you’ve always done it. you’ll learn a ton of good skills and soon enough you’ll be comfortable multitasking those things.
most importantly to remember is no matter what your team will have your back!!! nobody is going to get mad at you for asking questions— always ask questions! absolutely go for it. it’ll turn out way better than you think 💜
