I don’t have any experience with this but I agree with you. Personally I would rather tell people the truth rather than let people assume and gossip behind my back. If you tell the truth there’s nothing for them to whisper about. Only tell them as much as you’re comfortable with. You can just say exactly what you said on the title, that you were getting out for addiction and you’re doing much better now. I think that’s a really brave thing to do and it’s also a way of protecting yourself from the inevitable barista gossip. I’m going through something similar, having some medical procedure, I told a couple people and then I noticed whispers started happening about me. So from now on I’m just gonna tell people what was going on with me so that they stop talking about me and making assumptions.

thank you! i think i’ll say “i was getting some treatment for addiction but im doing really good now” :,) im in my way i’m so nervous but excited! hopefully my manager isn’t mad at me for covering this shift because she hasn’t put me back on the schedule yet but i was cleared by corporate. i’m sorry they were whispering n stuff around you that sucks but that’s smart to nip it in the bud & just tell everyone what’s going on. i hope you’re doing good after your procedure!

I think that sounds great. I do t think I congratulated you on your accomplishments but that is such a big deal. So so proud of you. Take each day as it comes. Don’t think about yesterday & don’t think about tomorrow. You are doing amazing things & you have all the support of a mystery friend in these comments;-) sending love and support your way. I’m very happy for you.
