Is this event that occurred at my store the other day allowed? (self.starbucksbaristas)

There should always be a Keyholder present, and even if the ASM isn’t scheduled as “coverage” he/she should know better to check on the store. My SM often spends a lot of their “non-coverage” time on the floor because it’s my SM’s job to make sure that the store is running smoothly.

Totally allowed. You had a keyholder in the building the entire time. Even if that ASM had left for lunch it would still be allowed.

Someone should have run the floor though. Either that ASM or maybe a barista trainer who is about to become a shift as part of their training.

Or the floor should have been set in a way that support wasn’t needed and the ASM called breaks/play from the back.

Not sure if that’s allowed or not but one of my SSVs leaves the store all the time and even drives home sometimes. He just leaves us alone and he did this when all the remaining baristas on the floor were relatively new. He also doesn’t tell us when he leaves because he claims he’s going on a 30 minute break but ends up being gone for upwards of an hour. I’m pretty sure my SM knows because rumour has it she’s forcing him to step down.

There just has to be a key holder in the building. But that being said not having anyone running the floor for 2 hrs, is just dumb. If I'm the only one in the building and I need to take my 30, I flex the play to have everyone at the station they're strongest at. And tell them to let me know if ticket times get over 10 minutes and I'll shut off mobiles until I can get back out on the floor.

There should always be an SSV on the floor. One time during a snow storm in the afternoon at some point, my shift left early and it was only me who at that point was there for maybe six months but definitely less than a year and there was two other Baristas there. My shift supervisor just ended up leaving early and she handed the store keys to the most tenured barista. The next shift supervisor wasn't coming in for about another hour and a half or something. If something happened during that time then she would have probably gotten fired. I don't know if the manager ever found out about that or not. It's just really careless. My store manager is at the store a lot and when she is, she never ever hangs out in the back. She's always sitting at one of our tables with her laptop and her papers and stuff. That way she can keep an eye on things and make sure that she can jump in if we need help or jump in if there's an issue
