short rant (self.starbucksbaristas)

it’s been 2 days and i’m still annoyed at something one of my shifts did. so, my store is currently in the process of unionizing. every single person in my store is pro-union except for one shift supervisor. you know, i don’t care if she’s against unions. she has her reasons.

but what i *do* care about is her blatantly telling me to vote no. i was waiting on my order a couple days ago (i was in on my day off!) and that’s when she came over and started going on a spiel about how no vote is a yes, and that she knows our store is very likely to unionize, that we need to stop it from happening because things will get worse, etc. which is hilarious that she even said all this to me because i’ve been helping my other shift (who is in charge of the organizing) with everything. she sounded as though she was reading directly off a corporate letter.

i do plan on giving my other shift a heads up to know she’s spreading anti-union information. whether nor not it’s allowed i have no idea (i feel like it’s not), but i don’t know if it’s a great idea to go to my SM or DM about it since they’re supposed to be anti-union or whatever and probably wouldn’t do anything about it. although, i am starting to think my SM is for a union, at first she was making hints that we need to try for it. but who knows.

Because she can vote it’s not illegal for her to try and convince you to vote no. It’s illegal for management to try to tell you how to vote.

that makes sense!

Legally no one in management can tell you not to unionize.

Shift supervisors are technically not in management. Management is classed as ASM and above.
