not sure if it's considered an appliance but the app scanner hates me so much. beeping and booping up a storm and still doesn't scan the fuckin barcode i swear :/

COLD BREW KEG. I swear I can’t count how many times I would replace it but it would just not work. And someone comes over and does the same thing I do and it works. It rarely wanted to work for me.

it’s the blender covers for me. the way ours are placed, sometimes you can’t get them open b/c the top hits against the shelf, and also they’re always sticky and stuck onto the base so it takes all my physical strength (and minimal knowledge of physics) to get them off to be cleaned at close

right oven. or the blenders. or the espresso machines and the constant water flow low warnings and absolute refusal to pull shots

idk if it’s an appliance but our big ice bin keeps trying (sometimes succeeds) to take chunks out of my thumb. so painful.

Our technology is basically my mortal enemy. Like the card swipe, It’ll say declined at least once a shift, so I have to ask the customer to redo it so they do with the same card and all of a sudden it’s now approved. And then the scanners on front register, sometimes scanning people’s phone is a mess. It either won’t pick up the barcode, so I have to awkwardly wave it around for a while OR it will do the beep, but then up on screen is an error message saying “Database programming error”. Then I have to redo it and it keeps doing the same thing and the customer gets annoyed like, “HOW MANY TIMES ARE YOU CHARGING ME?!?” And I have to try to explain a broken machine that hates me.

On that topic though the other day someone came through the drive thru and I told them the total and they pulled up their phone, but it was just the scan for stars, not the scan & pay. So I scan it and then wait assuming they are going to pull out a card or cash. They don’t. So I repeat the total and she’s like:

Lady: I just gave you the app.

Me: *explained that I only scanned for the stars*

Lady: WHY’D YOU DO THAT?!

Me: Because it was on “scan only”

Lady: *shoves phone at me* What’re you going to do to give me my stars back.

Me: *realizes she thinks I USED her stars* Oh no, I didn’t take your stars, I just scanned for points.

Lady: … *silence and drives off once order is paid for and handed out*


In summary, I hate basically all of Starbucks technology it may be useful a lot of the time, but those times it is faulty is when it is highly annoying.

the metal part of the steam wand. i can’t remember what it’s called, but the amount of times i have hit my elbow on it during peak and had my whole right arm go numb…

Not quite an appliance but the ice scoop(we have the metal one) and I have a love/hate relationship. Everytime it doesnt quite go on the hook and hits the floor you can hear it all the way in the lobby. Sometimes it teams up with the cover on the ice maker to give me a lovely headache🙃

Dish washer😑 I've seen too many videos on the inside during a wash process.
