So today I smashed my finger in a door pretty good while on the clock and my SM and a few other coworkers thought I had broken it. I had to call Sedgwick and report my injury and they sent me a list of approved urgent cares to go to to have my finger checked out. I wanted to wait until the end of my shift bc I need the pay but my SM pretty much forced me to go, multiple partners all attest to my refusal of leaving early. How would I go about letting Sedgwick know I went to urgent care, and will they pay for the visit or am I paying out of pocket for it?

they SHOULD pay for the rest of your shift + any time off the doctor says you need. it’s workers comp and anytime you’re injured on the clock you should definitely report it even if it doesn’t seem serious at first, because if it gets worse later on and you didn’t report it then they won’t give it to you. also beware that they can find reasons not to give it to you, like being out of dress code (not wearing nonslip shoes and then slipping on a wet floor)

Here in california where I’m at I was told I only get paid for my missed shifts if I miss 3 or more days of work. However they will pay for the doctors visit regardless. When you go in let the staff know you’re there for a workers comp injury and they’ll give you a file with paperwork to fill out to send to Sedgwick. I had to use my sick hours to cover my missed work (I only missed 2 days) but never saw a bill for my 2 doctors visits.

I forgot to tell the doctors I was there with workers comp so I ended up having to call and have it noted to charge them instead.

I’m glad you got it figured out!

When you get hurt at work, your entire shift will be a paid shift even if you leave early.

With sick hours or workers como for the shift bc my sm made me put in my sick hours for it.

I don’t know the code that they use for but I’m pretty sure it’s not sick hours. I would call the pcc to get the official word on what is supposed to be used. I don’t think sick time is supposed to be used for that.

If you communicated with Sedgwick first, and they told you which urgent cares they’re connected with, you give urgent care your Sedgwick claim # and it’s ALL billed to Sbux. Just went thru this last week.

I forgot to give it while I was there.

There should be a claims rep emailing/calling you. A sedgwick rep and an sbux rep. Def ask them about that! I had to go back to the urgent care for a follow-up visit and physical therapy and it’s all billed to Sbux.

hi i was also injured on the clock, and sedgwick should pay for the rest of your shift if you have to leave early to seek medical care for a work-related injury. you should talk to your SM and you'll have to file an incident report and do some paperwork. from there it'll depend on sedgwick.
