Time off DENIED (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ebac7
So i got my request denied even though i placed it more than 21 days in advance. Its my partner and I's 5 year anniversary so theres no way in hell im going to work. Their reasoning was that theres other shifts also taking time off that weekend. But this isnt the first time other shifts took time off and guess who had to work friday saturday sunday 8 hour shifts for them? Anyway Ima try to talk to my manager but there shouldnt be a reason why i got denied. Its their job to find coverage.

It seems as though your SM works on a first requested gets it basis. Another shift requested it first. If you have other important days this year request them now.

I would try to talk to your SM, sometimes they’re able to help work things out with you. If it’s an option for your store, you could see if any other stores have SSVs that would be willing to cover for you!

I know its an important date to you but the time off isn't required. That's why it's called a *request*. I hate it too, I've had miss several important dates for example my first nephew (or niece) being born, my own anniversary with my Significant other, not only his bday but also his party. It sucks. But at the end of the day it's nothing more than hey can I have this day off?

I get your argument, but at the same time life trumps Starbucks. We dont truly sell our souls to the siren, so 21 days in advance is plenty of time for a request not during the holiday season. I hope you are able to work it out with management, OP!
