customers that place an order AT the window(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by 1cysp1cy
i will never understand how you just forget to order at the speaker. and sometimes when it’s a large order with food, we’ll ask them to park and one of our baristas will bring it to them, and most of the time they REFUSE and stay at the window. same goes to people that decide to add a bunch of other things at the window or entirely redo their order :|

I’ll do maybe one or two items, but if it’s something that will take a while my response is always “oh the car right after you ordered the last one (insert customer service fake sad face).” I like doing that because it indirectly says “omg, you wouldn’t have missed the last one if you had freaking ordered it like a normal human person.”

Omg love this

I feel like it’s justified too since they’re not just inconveniencing us, ordering at the window also is very rude to all the people who are behind them in line because now they all have to wait extra long.

Disrespectful as f*ck. You forgot something? That’s your problem, come to the walk up register and order it there in that case. Or go through the drive thru a second time. Don’t make us and the respectful people behind you deal with your mistake.

for real! especially for us high volume stores. even getting them an ice water at the window is such a hassle because you get in the way of the other baristas and it can mess up their flow

“can we get 2 double smokes on the fly…”

i’ll gladly make them wait the 2 min the sandwiches take to heat up

Allowing them to order at the window (not just add on but actually order) is actually considered a safety issue, or at least that's what I've always been told. If you didn't talk to them at the speaker, you're not even supposed to open the window for them.

That’s understandable, but I hope your manager will consider the accessibility element of this. Deaf or hard of hearing customers will sometimes drive straight to the window.

i will happily assist them there, especially since one of my SSV knows ASL. but as for the ones that don’t fit that description, they have no excuse not to order at the speaker

well their entitlement is letting them get away with it, and management isn’t doing anything about it

We don’t let people order at the window . We tell them to come inside or drive around to the speaker

So at my current store we are actually not allowed to bring items out to customers because it's a "safety issue" but I came from a store where we parked people and brought stuff out to them.
