Which comes first? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by AlternativeWay4626
During peak or just when it’s busy in general, and you have stickers that came out like a couple minutes apart. Do you make the easier one first or the one that came out first? For instance if you’re backed up and you pull in order a frappe with 5 modification, an iced caramel macchiato, and a vanilla sweet cream cold brew, which do you make first ?

make the cup & queue the shots for the macchiato, start the frap, make the CB while the frap is blending, top the macchiato, top the frap. aka sequencing

exactly how i would do it

theoretically, I would start the frapp first, then prep the CM and pull shots, finish the frapp, start pulling the VSCCB (we have it on tap), finish the CM, finish the VSCCB.

generally: if the stickers are part of the same order or back-to-back, I sequence them according to the base drink (espresso drinks vs frapps vs refreshers/iced teas vs cold brew) & knowing roughly how long it takes me to finish each one, and what makes logical sense for our bar layout to minimize extra movement

but everything I said is what works for me personally; b99’s sequencing would also be perfectly fine

wait so your stores don’t have their own dedicated cold bar?

Well we do but I mean later on in the day when there’s not enough people to have a designated cold bar. So I shouldn’t have said during peak my bad

It’s all about timing. Start with the thing that takes the longest. In that scenario, the frap and the espresso shots take more time in comparison to cold brew.

On a smaller scale, let’s say you have a chocolate foam cold brew. Start your foam first because that takes 10 seconds to foam. As that’s going, you get the cold brew, ice, and top. I would treat iced matchas with VSCF similarly as well.

If it’s super busy, I go by the first one that pulls. Though once I see one order has 2 or more drinks I pull all of them for that order. Since people can order two of the same thing, this just helps you know if you need to double batch something and prevent you from walking back and forth
