It is not good business practice to not practice what you preach. Meaning, if you require baristas to work weekends you have to work weekends. As an ASM I took Sunday/Wednesday off, but when needed I worked those days. I strongly believe in integrity and being a part of the floor coverage. I would work openings/closings, as coverage was needed. Having the power to create the schedule means being fair to everyone. Granted I promoted myself to customer because I couldn’t be a part of a company that speaks on caring for their partners yet terminates them without a single coaching, teaching, action plan.

so SMs are supposed to check in with their DMs to determine what works best for their store for their days off (as far as I'm aware), so if your weekends are slow and your SM isn't really needed it makes sense. if you're super busy on your weekends (as many stores are), I feel like SMs should be working BARE MINIMUM every other weekend or one weekend day to keep things at bay. your SM is allowed to create their own schedule from what I've been told though.

I’m guessing that’s a district-level thing. I worked in districts where the SM and ASM had to each work either a Sat or Sun, but not both. Other districts didn’t have set rules and some SMs took most weekends off.

I've literally never seen my SM on the weekend and had no clue there were managers who worked weekends until seeing this post lmao
