How late do closing shifts normally go ? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Im a minor and have only ever worked 4-8 shifts. Im looking to change my availability to closing shifts because I hate mornings but im not sure what to change my availability to ? My store closes at 10 but how much later would i be scheduled for closing? I feel dumb for not knowing this lol

Closing shifts go 30 minutes past when your store closes, but I frequently get out 15 minutes later than that because there's a lot to do.

You’d be scheduled till 10:30, but potentially have to stay late (I always plan for a 45min close, but we don’t always need it!)
Then once a week your store has clean play, which is for 2hrs after close (so until 12am)

my store does clean play mornings, so we start at 9 and don’t open that day until 12. it’s so much better

Lucky! Our peak is 7am-9am ish so that wouldn’t work for us unless cleanplay started at 2am 🤣

mine does 30 minutes for close and then 2 hours for clean play. so when we close at 9, clean play is done at 11:30

It should be scheduled until 10:30, but it may go later or be done sooner. I always aim to be done 15-25 minutes after close, but I've also known supervisors who typically get out 45-50 minutes after close. It depends on the day, the staff, the plan, the supervisor, and sometimes just luck.

^ I know I worded this weird. The latest I’ve worked is 10 due to being a minor but I’d like to have the latest shifts possible once I’m 18

If you’re a minor it’s most likely you can’t work past 9 or 10 so you wouldn’t be able to close (depending on the state) I’m in CA and minors would not be able to work that late on week days

It all comes down to the law in your state. I’m a shift in Tennessee and the minors that I close with have to be clocked out and out of the store by 10 so honestly it’ll come down to how late you are allowed to work, also in my state a minor isn’t suppose to work more the 4 hours(scheduled) on the weekdays so if those rules semi apply you would be looking at 6-10 and you would be a pre closer but idk how that all works for your state and how your store does things so I hope this helps haha

You get half an hour to close, so if the store closes at 10, you'd be off at 10:30
