I honestly hate this job now (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by lindi07
My passion is gone. I started at a locally owned coffee house today that just opened last week and it’s so amazing. It was nice and slow (I’m sure business will pick up). The customers were so nice and patient and amazing. The atmosphere was real and authentic. So is the actual coffee. The full barista job: grinding, dosing, tamping, you know.
I hate Starbucks. I hate the customers. 90% of them. They’re all so mean and nasty and entitled and rude. I can’t take it anymore. I’ve been here for a year now, and I’m just so burnt out. I was considering part time just so I can keep Spotify premium and my free mark outs LOL but idk if that’s even worth it. I think I’m just extra angry because I’m exhausted today so I’m giving it more time and thought.

Sorry. Just needed somewhere to rant.

Are you currently working two jobs?

I just started at the cafe. I was going to work at the cafe fulltime and only work part time on starbucks when it’s closed (cafe closed Monday and tuesday). I figured since they’re weekdays I’ll be fine but idk abt ore

Oh gotcha.
This is a hard one because there are definite perks to the chaos. But the peace and tranquility of the other.
Your path is in decision mode.

I quit a few months ago, started at a small locally owned café where we make everything in house down to the food, pastries, syrups, and the coffee is even roasted by us. The difference in not only quality, but clientele, is astounding and I will never ever go back. It was the best decision I ever made for myself. We get free coffee and food through the day if you have a shift, and 50% off on days off, though I’m not sure if this is how your new café works. Regardless, i love it. I wake up excited to go to work.
I’m not saying you should quit Starbucks, their benefits are definitely nice, but if it’s taking such a toll on you,,, it may not be worth it. And I really hope that doesn’t sound like me trying to tell you what to do— just that I was in a similar situation, and wanted to share my experiences, I guess. All my love <3

Thank you so much

I'd put in your notice. The extra money sounds great in theory, but the job isn't worth its shitty perks. And if anyone finds out you have a job at a competing coffee business, you will be fired from Starbucks. It's considered a policy violation

Download your music as mp3 files and use that. Your time and energy are worth more than a terrible streaming site lol
