Update: a dear sweet partner (who has a 5 hour shift that starts an hour after my one hour shift ends) messaged SM and me saying she would take my one hour. SM said ok to that and then separately texted an apology to me for not responding yesterday. But no "oops" or "my bad" for scheduling like that. I really appreciate you redditor/partners weighing in and reacting because I was kind of questioning my sanity. When I shared it on my store's group chat, my partners barely reacted until this one nice partner this morning. Edit: here's what bothers me: no partners on our private no-SM or ASM group chat even just said "That's bull shit scheduling" or anything critical of that. It's more annoying than even the SM acting like it was perfectly reasonable

I know in NC the lowest employers can schedule is 4 hours a day.

A nice partner swooped in, took my one hour shift, asked SM if they could do training in the gap between my shift and theirs and SM said ok.

I’ve worked in two different states and each one stated that a partner has to work a minimum of two hours. If someone got called in on their day off but only worked for on hour, they would have to be paid for two.

I’m all caught up in My Learning, I have completed Summer 2 and everything else. I texted my SM and ASM yesterday early evening and have a deafening silence in response. It says “coverage” on the DCR. I’m trying to check

Today, after another partner stepped up and offered to work that hour in combination with a later shift, SM finally responded and was sorry for not responding yesterday. But not sorry for scheduling me a one hour shift. ASM, who until a few months ago was a fellow barista, friend at my home, has never responded at all. We used to have such great leadership at my store but that can change in a heartbeat

Could it possibly be for a team meeting of sorts? i cant imagine why else they would do that :/ but its weird they havent responded or told you ahead of time.

No meeting, I’ve shared it on our group chat, no one knows, not the SSVs on there,no one. I think it’s just bad scheduling. Would be illegal in some states. They’ll have a 3 partner play for an hour without me

Thank you for saying that, that means so much. My own partners, who I partied off hours with, helped out, taking their shifts, stood by and said nothing on our group chat. This is a new SM, new to us. I’m more upset that I didn’t even get commiserated with. Another partner stepped up and took it but I was weighing calling in saying I’m not sick but I’m also not driving 18 miles for a BS shift

that’s so upsetting :/ i’m surprised neither of your managers responded to your inquiries either. definitely dont be afraid to escalate this if it happens again because really it’s just unfair to everybody.
