crush on a regular (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by hamlethair
after 2 long years, my days at starbucks are finally coming to an end. my last shift is next week!

anyway, there’s a regular who has been coming in a couple times a week for a little over a year. he usually mobile orders, but we started talking when he came to pick up his order and we have a very similar sense of humor and a lot in common. when it’s not busy, we sometimes talk for 10-15 minutes getting lost in conversation. my coworkers joke that he’s in love with me because we talk so often. since he mobile orders, when it’s busy we don’t get a chance to talk. i really want to give him my number because i’m never going to see him again after my last shift. i’m worried it will be busy, so i was planning on writing a little note along with my number on his cup when i see his order come through.

i know there’s probably rules against giving someone your number at work, but it’s my last day and i honestly don’t care about that. i’m wondering if this is a good idea? what should i write on his cup? should i even go through with it?

Go for it! You could write something like “it’s my last day, keep in touch! - Your name, phone #”. Your story is so adorable, definitely make a move! I’m happy for you that you’ve had such a positive interaction with a regular, some of my store’s regulars have grown to feel like family 😊 One of my favorite aspects of the job! Good luck ✨

You’re leaving so The worst that can happen is them saying “I’m married” so screw it go for it!
downlbsbydw 34 points 1y ago
Someone left their number like this for my husband. He of course said he was married, but my first thought was “was to go, woman!” I was so excited to see a woman nicely out herself out there, as my husband was flattered. They still make friendly small talk and all is well. Totally worth the shot!
hamlethair [OP] 14 points 1y ago
that’s true, i guess even if he’s taken, he’ll take it as a compliment at least 🤷‍♀️
downlbsbydw 2 points 1y ago
Definitely. Shouldn’t he be honored that you ask him out?? 😉 Of course he will.

As a customer, I would be really flattered if a barista that I interacted with often left me her number, even if I wasn’t interested in her romantically.

I mean you only live once so you might as well go for it and see what happens from there

I metmy wife when she was a customer. Just ask for social.media and go from there? Better than waking up at 2am in a cold sweat about what could've been

My (former) coworker met her husband that way, but she didn’t wait to leave the company before she gave her number. Do it!

I met my husband at Starbucks. He was a customer and I asked him out. We've been together for 22 years.

here for an update ;-;
SmallBean04 3 points 1y ago
Do it! I wrote my snap on one of my regulars pastry bag because I was too shy to ask in person. They ended up being super sweet but were already engaged, yet somehow I had never been turned down in a sweeter way 😂

Go for it! I met my husband at Starbucks- he was a Barista and he came up to me on his break, sat down at my table and just started up a conversation— that was in 1996 and we’re still together.

I absolutely think you should go for it! Keep us updated…what a story! ❤️

go for it. Last time I ever did something like this was in high school and I gave it to my crush who I was head over heels about for the entire school year. I basically admitting I always liked him (and I could 100% tell he liked me too, we chatted all the time) and even gave him some of my senior pictures. I didn't leave a number or anything because I didn't have a phone at the time but I just thought "what the hell?! I'll most likely never see him again so I might as well tell him how I feel".
thevelvetunderpants 2 points 1y ago
Yes! I’d write it on a piece of receipt paper and say “it’s my last day, we should keep in touch #” and maybe stick the paper on a sleeve!

Do it!! You won’t know the outcome unless you do it! As cheesy as it sounds we only live once, even if not a romantic connection happens you may have a great friend in your life!
