when you have a customer that stares into your soul, do you stare back even harder to assert your dominance or look away?(self.starbucksbaristas)

The coworkers and I were having a comical debate over this. I wanted to ask to see if others stare back or not. We’re trying to decide if I’m just a psychopath with tiny girl syndrome.

Establish dominance. I talk to them while they do it, make uncomfortable eye contact, and also double down on whatever their response to my questions are.
Don't stare at me. Odds are you have a phone and can stare at that like a civilized individual in this day and age.

yes and I go wide eye with no blinking. Once I even pulled up my finger and went "Tony doesn't like it when you stare at Ms. (my name)" in a creepy voice. The lady flipped around and scoffed, I guess she wasn't amused 😂

Lol wen im on bar, i get stares all the time. They stand right at the opening of the hand off area where they can literally stare at me. And the thing is I know some people will say oh customers just want to watch you in the drink making process because they think it's cool. But no I actually always catch customers just literally staring at me. Like they're staring at my face as I'm making drinks. And then I just always stare at them and then I look ahead and to my other side in an awkward way just so they can realize that I have no idea what they're staring at me for. And then I continued making drinks and then I glanced over at the handoff area again and then I catch them staring at my face again. I would never go to a McDonald's or a Dunkin Donuts or any other fast food or restaurant establishments and stare at people's faces while they're working. I just can't ever imagine doing that so I don't know why other people do it

My thoughts on this is that I’m working, they’re waiting. If they talk to me, I’ll respond; even the horse has to whip the flies from its arse. Otherwise, ignore the flies, they aren’t worth your time.
