Starbucks Trivia to Impress Seasoned Baristas(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by emmymariex
Hi! 368 partner here, and I work with a lot of seasoned baristas - one of them has been with the company for 30 years now (which is longer than I've been alive hahaha). After reading about the undertow, I'm curious. Is there more starbucks trivia of a similar nature that will impress my fellow staff if I know?

I’m a rehired 143 and this was before my time- look up Chantico drinking chocolate. I only remember the horror stories.

It was so damn tasty though! I wasn't a partner. Should have been a holiday drink.

We used to make smoothies that had protein powder and fresh bananas in them. Do you still have 4 ice scoop sizes? The littlest one was for smoothies and they only came in grande size

We only have three scoops! Is this why people have been asking if we have bananas???

we used to get shipments of bananas! some stores might idk but our store hasn’t for a few months :)

I didn't understand why the request was so popular, that makes more sense! Were there ever lemons either? I've had that request a few times

one of my coworkers said there was a refresher that had dehydrated limes? or oranges? that went in it, but i’ve gotten a few requests for fresh lemon slices too lol

It’s been 4-5 years since smoothies got dropped so most likely not, but I manage a different coffee shop now and we sell bananas so I think it’s just a fairly common coffee shop thing

Valencia Orange Refresher was pretty decent. The Unicorn Frappuccino… it deserved to die.
RegularAsk1432 points1y ago
Valencia was the BEST syrup!!!!

We use to put Frappuccino chips in a mocha then topped with mocha whip called molten chocolate mocha. 30 year partner, damn! They’ve got six years on me! Ask that barista about Ebony Whip being a standard whip option and the frap chips used to be actual coffee and chocolate chip for a Frappuccino that was basically a coffee frap with those chips. I can’t remember the name so maybe they might. Also when I first started in the 90’s we called the undertow the Trinity and we would put our shots in the fridge for 5 mins before we layered them with the syrup and cream.

Frappuccino chips in a mocha! Were the chips placed below the espresso so it'd melt, like can I recreate something similar with chocolate cold foam on 4? (I know blending on 4 won't make it whipped cream like but idk how else I could approach it) I will definitely ask about the chips though!! Thank you!!
Mea-fae_Owl732 points1y ago
Yes, it was 1 pump of mocha for tall and two for grande/venti and the scoops of chips like a frap (2,3,4) then shots like normal and then the milk. You can do iced or hot. I think the chocolate cold foam would be amazing!!!

Knowing how long to brew the tea (and the correct way to brew it) for iced tea lattes, like an iced London fog.
Knowing that classic goes in both the Macha Frap and the Strawberry Frap.
Knowing what an affagato shot is.
