Our scanner was down in the drive thru (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by uwumoment
It wasn’t long before i was berated by a customer (old man) for the scanner not working, and when i put in his account number it said he had $0.00, but he tried to argue with me that he had money on it (he did not, no matter which card i tried). He insinuated that i was stealing from him and how i must be lying bc this is the first time it’s happened. I say there’s not much i can do, it’s saying he has $0.00, he pays with his card and asks for my manager and if they’re working (manager working at night? funny joke). Asks for her name and says he will call her, when he doesn’t even know her number. I say it’s really not our fault bc it ISNT, and he replies snarkily that it isn’t his either. Seems like it’s more of your problem since you’re giving me so much negative attitude

Give them corporates number and say to contact them they can check when he reloaded and money was taken off the number is on the back of gift cards or maybe he tried to load it and it didn’t process yet. Sorry this happened to you.

Every now and then, we have customers who’re incensed their Starbucks account has less money than they thought. I gives me anxiety sometimes because explaining how this could be so is often frustrating and complicated.

If they aren’t being reasonable, I just say they should call customer support and they will walk them through everything. If they say they want to talk to the manager or will send her a message, I just smile and invite them to do so.

i just gave him her name bc i don’t have her number off the top of my head bc she’s new. but he said he’d give her a call and i was completely happy with that bc he has no idea how to spell her name lmfao
