320 here… how does anyone manage to stay beyond a year??? my mental health is being stretched thin. i’m going to bring my spirituality into this. i don’t follow a religion but i do believe in vibrational frequencies, astrology (take that with a grain of salt, please), that realm of spirituality. dealing with hundreds of members of the general public daily and absorbing their negative energy is hurting me so much. i miss the girl i used to be. the thing is, i need money. and i’m addicted to my daily drink now and if i quit, there’s no way i can afford it anymore lol. i also love my coworkers so that’s a plus. i have to stay until i have a new opportunity certain, does anyone have any advice on how to keep going when you want to quit so badly??

Pretty simple
1) Need for money
2) Need for money again
3) All the other jobs I worked were harder
4) They pay for my college

Starbucks is terrible mental health wise. I just left after 9 months and I am looking forward to feeling more like myself again.

Protect your energy. There is helpful info for empaths out there regarding building a sort of energy bubble around yourself.

Also.. as cliché as it is, what do you like? What are you thankful for in the job, the environment?

As for customers and shitty attitudes it helps me to remember that just because someone pissed in a person's cheerios it doesn't mean it was me. Let that shit roll away (building that energy bubble helps).

I am far more emotionally affected by my co-workers which I'm working on. Customers are in and out so seriously, be as good as you can be to them and move on.

And every job is its own "shit sandwich".. the grass isnt always greener.

You’re right. I’ll try to change my perspective on customers. I’m very thankful to have recently transferred to a drive thru only store, so it’s definitely helpful not needing to be in the same building as customers. I also really adore my coworkers so I’ll try to focus on building my relationships with them so something good comes out of this job. Thank you🤍

this is going to sound slightly wacky but.. do you wear a head covering? it might help with the negative energy absorption -- mine sure does.

i don’t but i’m going to start now! thank you!

For me it’s the pay, benefits and schooling but also I always go protected to work sprinkle Florida water or siete machos cologne, wear black tourmaline and
carry my evil eye bracelet lol oh and also the flexibility.. also speak up I did the mistake by always keeping quiet then got taken advantage but now nope not anymore always speak or else it will suck the life out of you lol

I don’t let negativity get to me especially at work. I laugh at these miserable people I just serve you drinks and food it’s not that deep.
orangeygirly [OP] 9 points 1y ago
i’m not talking about the negativity you consciously notice - like a customer’s snide remarks or impatience. i mean the negative energy they carry with them 24/7 they vibrate at a low frequency unseeable to the eye. when you spend too much time with them in close proximity, their frequency begins to affect your own. that’s what i mean when i say absorbing negativity. these are just my beliefs and you don’t need to agree(:

I was extremely lucky to have enough money saved up to quit without having anything lined up. My mental health has never been better than the two weeks after I was done with the siren. If it is possible for you to leave, do it! Your mental health is so much more important than bean juice and leaf water!!

maybe working at a smaller cafe is a better fit for you! it sounds like the craziness of working at sbux is draining your life and energy away. keep in mind, NO smaller coffee shop is gonna match sbux’s benefits and lenient call-out policies, that’s just something you can’t avoid. however, you can probably still get free and/or discounted coffee drinks on shift! if it were me, i’d think about what is most important to me in a job and weigh my options from there. legit the only thing keeping me at sbux is that i can find coverage relatively easily when i need it

my ex best friend who i do not get along with is the assistant manager at the closest small café to me😭🥴

YIKES!! that’s terrible luck OP, so sorry to hear it. i know the feeling too, i’m gonna be starting a job with my ex best friend that i don’t get along with soon actually 💀 maybe there’s another cafe within a reasonable working distance?
