Write up for staying late when asked.(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by owww1233
I'm still pissed off and this happened weeks ago. Our store has had a Substitute manager in training for a few months while our real manager was gone. I stayed between 10-15 minutes late for TWO shifts over a two month period, and this person gave me a write up for it.
I've been with the siren for 5+ years and staying late for a few minutes until your position could be covered has been considered a courtesy. Partners at my store stay late CONSTANTLY but I am the only one who has been written up for it. Shifts get pissed if you ditch your spot, but now I have no choice. So over this company and its bullshit management. My continuous effort is never recognized nor is it appreciated.
The petty tyrants, the micromanagement, the inconsistencies and utter lack of respect for the people who help run this place is making me sick.

at my store it’s the norm for literally everyone to stay late like sometimes even to cover someones lunch or more if there’s labor hours available. can’t you challenge a write up if it’s something that they haven’t enforced in the past but randomly discipline you for now?

I'm not sure, I haven't read that in any policy yet, but if it's an option and would benefit me then please tell me how?

You indeed can challenge your write up with your DM and discuss with them the context of your situation.
Edit: I also kept reading other comments and connect with your assigned SM who returned, first and take it from there.

Yea that’s illegal that’s why my store is unionizing

I hope you refused to sign it , cause one you do then HR would be like hmmm why did they refuse

I didn't because I didn't know that was an option since I was pressured into it. Should I bring this up with my actual manager since he is back?
crzyshiba9 points1y ago
Yes I definitely would …and they were probably on a power trip

Signing it doesn’t mean that you agree, only that you received it. So it doesn’t matter either way.

New fear: unlocked. I am ALWAYS having to stay late, bc our store is always needing help and having call outs and I’m a default partner to cover or come in early or late. I would definitely talk to your current manager or get in contact with your DM asap. You shouldn’t have been written up. I’ve been told that if you’re asked to stay late and you do, you would be fine
