policy on using sick hours?? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by horseman-0bvi0usly
if we have the proper sick hours to call out for a shift, do we need to give a reason when we call out? if they ask why i can’t come in, can i say i’d rather keep it to myself? can i just say i wanna use my sick hours, or do i need to convince them i’m actually sick?

"I'm sorry, I can't come in today, I'm sick" "oh no, what's wrong?" "I'm sick."

They do not need to know and if they won't let you off the phone without explanation, escalate it to PCC or your DM.

As a further reminder, you are not required to help find coverage if you are sick.

Ps, mental health day = sick day. Starbucks is so big on promoting mental health, right? So let them promote it. Mental health day.

“Hey I won’t be coming in today. I have sick hours I would like to use.” Of course they’re likely to ask why, as above just say you’d rather not mention. If they ask if you looked for coverage “ I’m sorry for the misunderstanding , I have sick hours I’d like to use. “

Just say you are sick and don’t feel good or have a headache. You don’t owe them any details

You need to be actually sick.
