Information about being a shift lead at Starbucks? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by princess-of-prozac
I have an interview coming up to be a shift lead at Starbucks. I’m currently a shift lead in an extremely hectic job which I love because I love being busy. I have never worked at Starbucks before and I don’t have any friends that work at the company. I would love any sort of information about the position and how it works, the wage, and general opinions on if the position is well liked.
In my current position I am left in charge of a store 5 days a week with compete control of how the shift gets run and am included in most upper management tasks. I was curious if this job is anything like that and what the general responsibilities are.
Thanks so much!

Just don’t. The job itself is easy. Just trust me my guy/gal. I know the money is tempting. Unless you have a cafe store, extreme patience and unwavering resilience. Would help if you do not have a panic disorder or are not nuerodivergent. That was the easier job I had ever had. 3 years down the road I cracked and went on temporary disability for my mental status for 6 months.

I actually have no idea how much they make and I can’t find it ANYWHERE. How much was it where you are at?

Sm really depends on location. However it’s around 50k , plus bonuses if you make them. Enter your experience and tenure and bargain. Don’t settle for the first offer

My district is vastly different than others, due to circumstances out of anyones hands. Money you wouldn’t turn down, no matter how tough it got. Except me. I stopped caring.

No matter what day part you do you'll always be running the floor, telling people where to go, sending them on breaks etc. Depending on what day part you work you'll be in charge of various shift tasks like ordering new inventory, counting the safe, parring the tills, dropping tips, doing food counts and food pulls. I think there's some other things in there but you're basically in charge of the store in absence of the store manager.

For me, it was nothing like my previous management position. The job is very fast paced and high stress. You need to be someone who can pivot quickly to make things run smoothly. The customers can be rude and impatient but there are fabulous customers that make up for it. The one thing that took me a while to get used to is having to tell people where to go and what to do at all times. In my old job, the roles were defined and people just knew what they were assigned. In this job, you tell people where to go (like drive bar, drive orders, cold bar, etc.). I like to move people every time they get a break. It’s worth checking out if you’ve always wanted to work for Starbucks. But, this job can definitely be a love/hate situation at times so beware.

I have never wanted to work for a Starbucks at all, it’s never been like something I wanted to do but the position sounds exactly like what I’m doing now. I love hectic jobs and I love staying busy. The management roles sound the same as my current one
