Question for Texas Baristas!(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by safierce1789
I’m about to move to San Antonio and was wondering what the break policy is! I’m from Cali, so I get a ten for my four hour shifts, a ten and a 30 for my five to six hour shifts, and two tens and a 30 for eight hour shifts. I have a problem with my blood sugar where if I go more than two or three hours without consuming something, I’ll get light headed and even faint. I tried to look up break policies for Texas and it said that breaks aren’t required, and I was a bit worried. I don’t want to end up passing out on the floor on my first shift 😭
I just want to know what the break policies are if there are any, or if I need to keep a packet of sugar in my apron at all times.
Thank you in advance!

30s start at 6 hours. Anything less and it’s one 10. I think seven or six hours and thirty gets you a second 10.
I think you can talk to Starbucks about accommodations , but you’ll Get breaks for sure. Starbucks is pretty good about having that standard across the board even in places where is isn’t required.

Break policies are set by Starbucks, not based on local guidelines. Unless the government requires MORE breaks, you’ll follow the Starbucks policy
