SM scheduling outside availability, talking about my medical conditions to baristas, no response for an emergency at work. what to do? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by mijoza_
SM didn’t ask for permission to schedule outside of availability but did anyway.

SM on multiple occasions has talked to baristas about my medical condition and reasoning for calling off, in a dismissive shit talking kind of way. all reported back to me from about 4 baristas.

SM didnt reply on a shift where 2 people called off for a close leaving 2 people close last week and no response all night. didn’t turn off mobiles, no lobby closing, no one to help.

SM changes my schedule multiple times during the week of said schedule

what would you do?

Email your DM!

Most of this you’re describing is awful leadership and polar opposite of what an SM should be.

contact your dm.

i have a similar situation at my store, but my dm is leaving and my old sm left and we have been in a state of chaos for a bit. we had a grown man physically threaten the closing staff for being understaffed and closing cafe, banging on the cafe doors. the sm was called, the dm was called, neither one answered. this company has such shitty choice in leadership sometimes it makes me angry.

also one time i went in for a shift and the entire system was down, it was down for 3 entire hours where we couldn’t take any customers and the sm didn’t answer at all during that time. then, when she did, she said she had no idea how to fix it.

Just wow. Sorry you're being put in these situations.

it’s okay, i wasn’t there for the first situation but they called the cops and the guy left. he actually called to apologize and say he was having a “bad day” bc his wife was being mean to him. but all my coworkers are trying to get our sm out because she has no idea what she’s doing

Definitely report both of them to partner resources. No one should be sharing your medical condition with anyone. I would document as much as you can to start the paper trail, also, see if those baristas would also call partner resources. I would lose my mind if my SM was doing that.

Goodluck!
