I would tell them I saw their message and went back to bed, and go in at 11 🤷‍♀️ not your fault they jumped the gun

Username checks out
lolfuckigottawork 34 points 1y ago
🤣🤣🤣
Beefman453 13 points 1y ago
This is the way
arcanalalune 301 points 1y ago
They texted "we're not busy" right before peak??? LMAO
L_Swizzlesticks 149 points 1y ago
I’d be like “Nope, sorry, I’ve already gone back to sleep. 😊” lol
Minute-General-2090 7 points 1y ago
pshh, I never answer back. I just come in and if they asked why I didn't answer I say "cause I was sleeping hella good" 😂
ObjectiveLogical9413 116 points 1y ago
That would piss me off
sarahqueenoftots [OP] 59 points 1y ago
Yeah, I’m pretty pissed off
overturned23 76 points 1y ago
they probably just didn’t want to give you a meal break
wobbysobby 34 points 1y ago
Yep, likely they are being hounded by the SM to trim hours.
sarahqueenoftots [OP] 24 points 1y ago
Yeah because after all that I come in at 9 and then they sent me home 3 hours early. I would’ve fought them for it if I had been scheduled. I’m sooo done with my manager
lakoooter 54 points 1y ago
i would not answer if it was within 8 hours of the shift start
Same_Feeling_3973 -2 points 1y ago
How come?
lakoooter 8 points 1y ago
because they should have figured shit out before then? it’s their problem at that point
4filth 21 points 1y ago
yes lol. these people do NOT respect baristas’ time or money
radpandaparty 19 points 1y ago
If they agreed to coming in earlier I would always take the side of having extra coverage. If someone is picking up an 8-hour shift with a day notice, I am guessing they want hours, but if it ends up being slow you can either get extra cleaning done or send someone home early, if they want to go. It's a win win
RinnTheOtter 10 points 1y ago
If you’ve already agreed to work that time, they can no longer take the hours back from you, and you have it in text so you can prove it if you have to call the PRSC.
bisexualgirlboss 8 points 1y ago
nah, my ass would still come in at 8:30.
gabby24681 6 points 1y ago
Yeah and that’s when I say “oops fell asleep after the 11am message” (insert shrug emoji)
International-Job434 5 points 1y ago
Everyday. I’m quitting because I don’t like to be the person everyone goes too whenever they can’t figure something out while expecting me to do it and I’m not even a shift I just do CS all the time because no one else will.
cookiemonstah87 5 points 1y ago
If I didn't know better, I'd think you were one of my old coworkers. Looks a lot like texts I got from my SSV about every other day
Lyndseyshe 3 points 1y ago
This pretty much sums up my entire customer service career, from retail to barista and beyond.
dregonzz 3 points 1y ago
You can just say "no, good luck :)" that's it. You're not obligated to show up and don't let them take advantage of you.

If you want to a couple days a month for some extra cash, go when they ask. Otherwise tell them no. It's okay to say no and you don't even need to give a reason why.
Mickey_Fan51 3 points 1y ago
Yes…so many times. It’s irritating.
BigTrifle4969 3 points 1y ago
For someone who lives far away from my store I would simply not show up
aspoonfulofsammy11 2 points 1y ago
I’d say something along the lines of “I’d be more than happy to adjust my schedule to help the team, but I really can’t accommodate last minute changes or so much back and forth. It’s not fair to assume I’m just sitting here waiting to work. I have things to do with my day. Please let me know one set time for me to be there.”
Dismal_Impact9078 2 points 1y ago
Nah even if they said come in at 11 instead, you have a right to still come in at 8:30 if you want to. Like if you need the hours, don’t let them tell you no
kikuuq 2 points 1y ago
Yeah this has happened before :/
emobroccoli 1 points 1y ago
why would they make a judgment on how busy it is 2 mins into peak like 😭
Crafty_Vermicelli_77 1 points 1y ago
my manager would never. he’s too sweet
Minute-General-2090 1 points 1y ago
yes, only when my co-worker was being flake and my other co-workers would text or call me to come in. luckily she transfered and this stuff is not gonna happen as often like it use to do.
Imaginary-Fix-2469 1 points 1y ago
They dont remember they already asked you? Lmao
the1noir 1 points 1y ago
They were probably being pressured to cut labor by their manager
