I transferred to a new store about a month ago and I was hitting 35 hours a week for the first few weeks but the last 3-4 schedules I’ve been going down in hours. I just looked at the schedule that just came out for 6/13-6/19 and my SM scheduled me for 19.75 hours. It’s just honestly so frustrating bc I have open availability and when I transferred my SM assured me I was going to get a decent amount of hours, not to mention my store is very short staffed. I just don’t understand why she keeps cutting my hours so drastically. Like at this rate, it’s not even going to be working there anymore. I need hours, I have major bills to pay and I can’t if she is cutting them. I’m going to message her tomorrow about it but it’s insane and wrong.

When they did that whole thing about cutting labor hours I haven’t gotten any of mine back (Im in high school) I can work more I’m pretty flexible and now that I’m graduating and changed my availability to work more they have me on the same 3 days, has me insane because I need a few things to pay off.

I don’t think they realize we have bills to pay. Like it’s insane.

there is thing going around where they are cutting our hours either so we don't get benefits or to save on money (for the big guys) because even my store was notified that our hours are being reduced. They were already reduced before and now I'm not even sure if I want to continue working here, granted I have a stable home and working at Starbucks is really for me to be able to get out and socialize while getting a few bucks, but I'm pregnant and now having to shift my life and the way I live around to accompany my unborn daughter. I need the benefits for my due date but I'm not sure my work hours are even enough to get benefits.

I have enough Ben hours to make sure I keep my insurance but it’s crazy how they are doing that shit to hurt their employees. It’s like I don’t think they realize their employees have bills to pay, like I have major bills and am not able to cover them bc of this shit. Congrats on the girl tho.

my store got 60 more hours of labor bc we were understaffed and a man verbally assaulted the baristas and was banging on the doors. you know what my manager sent in the shift group chat? “hey guys, we were __ hours of labor over” bleh 🤮 not to mention the days that were “overstaffed” were probably the best days i’ve EVER worked at starbucks. i don’t understand the reasoning behind limiting labor hours when we are SO busy all the time!! we should be having 3-4 people more on the floor at all times

I’m in the same boat :// I’ve never been scheduled anything less than 30-35 for 8 months now and for the past 4 months I’m getting a steady 18-25 :/ luckily my coworkers understand and have been giving up their hours for me but it’s still stressful having to figure things out each week just to make sure I hit enough hours in order to pay all my bills. We have people who consistently call in or have a extremely low work ethic who get the same amount of hours as me now and it just feels like a slap in the face after being someone who has put so much time and energy into this company. Holding on until the raise because then at least I can somewhat comfortably work less hours.

People who call out or just don’t want to be here and make it known are getting MORE hours than me. I’ve put in months just for them to hire on new staff and give them more hours. And she pulled the “well the average is 20 hours a week” when a decent amount of our staff is in school the majority of the day.
