Is this normal? My store manager made me feel like I had to say yes to her. (i.redd.it)

It’s normal to give her a set availability, and it’s normal to lose hours if you limit your availability. It’s not right for her to pressure you to change it for closing, but you have to be understanding that limited availability = limited hours. Just tell her your real availability and be firm.

Im not fully understanding is your availability to start at 2pm or end at 2pm??

It starts at 2pm.

Does your availability day that you can't close?? It sounds liek there's another underlying issue with the schedule/availability and that your manage ris unable to schedule you for a closing shift. Perhaps your availability says you can't close or you're a minor and can't close due to local laws

this all sounds pretty above board to me tbh

Why is she not connecting with you in person about this? This is unprofessional

Crazy concept but there is a difference between availability and free time. Report it
aint_that_right 9 points 1y ago
Report it? Who you reporting this to lol
Zealousideal-Star448 1 points 1y ago
Like call your district manager?

What you gonna say to the DM? My store manager said they aren’t gonna give me as many hours because I reduced my availability? Hahahaha, they’d be like “too bad”. This isn’t reportable.

No report the attitude the manager is giving, the peer pressure to change hours. It creates a toxic work environment. Also even if filing a report doesn’t do anything at first, if this manager is doing it to others and there are more reports it would cause something to happen

Your availability is your availability. Don't be pressured into changing it (unless you really need the money of course). It's your manager's job to figure out coverage, maybe their solution it to hire more people to cover the gaps, it's not your problem.

Also, I wouldn't consider 2pm late! I'm only available after 6pm mon-fri and my manager approved my availability without any issues!
