How do I make this as painless as possible?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by LaurabelleBabe
So, I'm a Starbucks barista in Louisiana. I'm getting married in July at a destination wedding in Massachusetts. I have a large family and a rather large bridal party: 9 bridesmaids, my mom, and step mom, his mom and step mom, and his two sisters. Also my toddler and niece and nephew. ANYWAYS....They all want Starbucks....... They all want to get Starbucks while we're getting ready that morning. It comes out to 20 drinks and 22 food items. So obviously as a barista, I know this is gonna be a pain in the neck. On the bright side, I only have one frapp and every drink is an iced drink. But other than that, any tips on how I can make the baristas not hate me? My plan is to go early so nobody is rushed, give them my food order first and pay separately for it because I know food takes longer. Then give them my drink orders. I organized it all to where I have the temp and the size and all the details so there's no "uhh let me text them" and also I plan on leaving a $50 tip on what will end up being an over $150 order.

Call the store you plan on going to like a day or two before and be like “someone will be there at 845 am” and give them the exact order so they can make it ahead of time. Instead of mobile ordering provide the payment at pick up so it doesn’t mess up their stickers since they can plug the order in ahead of time and save it so it’s in the system.
Edit: also congrats! I hope it’s a wonderful and stress free wedding!

This 100%! I had these two girls come early in the morning like maybe an hour or hour and a half after we opened and they literally ordered somewhere around 18 drinks at the register so needless to say we got a little backed up and it was only two people at the store and I was one of them💀

Okay this sounds good. I was definitely planning on coming in that morning with my maid of honor to get the food and drinks in person. I’d never mobile something like that. I also probably should scope out and see how busy the store is before I load that on them.

I would call the day before and give the store a heads up. Give them the food order so they can at least prep it (open things and what not).
Give them the drink orders so they can delegate.
Don’t worry about it otherwise. Enjoy your day. Congrats. And thanks for tipping a decent amount.

It’s great you want to be proactive! I’d say call the store in advance. You could also maybe come in the night before at close to pay for at least the food order so it’s prepared ahead of time for you. As others say, even calling ahead is a huge plus.
The $50 tip is great but maybe also you could grab them all doughnuts or breakfast tacos or something for the morning crew? The tip is generous but will be split amongst the whole store. And it’s only the one day part during your order that will deal with the huge order so at least they’d get some snacks or something!
Lastly, if your bringing everyone inside to get the order might I recommend everyone to be relaxed and courteous to the staff. I have a huge lobby (reserve) and it can get overwhelming when we have a loud group of people and we’re trying to call out drinks or even communicate within ourselves and the group is being loud or leaves a mess.
Thank you for reaching out for opinions! I’m sure the baristas will greatly appreciate it.
Lastly, congratulations!!!

Thanks! As baristas we get a free food and multiple free drinks a day so I wanna do something for them other than food. What if I brought some of my wedding favors? It’s a Disney themed wedding so our favors are mickey shaped chocolate pops and little pins shaped like the grape soda pin from up :) I could bring like 30 for the whole crew! I don’t know how many people work at this location cuz it’s not the one I work at…

That sounds a great idea! I only suggest food cause sometimes Starbucks food gets old and tiring and anytime I’ve brought outside food like pizza or tacos everyone seems pretty ecstatic.
This is all of course up to you, I think they’d enjoy the pins!

That’s true but pizza or tacos at 8 am sounds like they might just sit there all day and I think it would be really awkward if I brought donuts from a competition store like Dunkin 😂😂

🥹🥹 I know how rough it is when people come in with orders for their whole office, really backs us up. I really just wanna make this as easy on them as possible while still getting the bridal parties favorites !! 💖

Oh we had something like this. They called and then put through the mobile the night before. We knew what name and the # of items in the order. We organized stickers so the AM folks could sequence in the best way possible.
The SM pulled a partner in like 30 minutes early just to work on their order.

I’m debating calling the day before but I know from working here that I might not speak to the person who’s gonna end up making the order and things might get miscommunicated. I think I’m just gonna go in early like at 7:00 am, check out if they’re super super busy and then that way I don’t have to make them rush around to get drinks ready in 20 minutes, they can still have drive thru bar and other cafe-mobile orders be getting made while my large order gets pieced together :)

Yeah, maybe get special drinks for the bride but regular coffee for everyone else, maybe some hot chocolate or something for the kids...
Reason: because someone's drink will be messed up and ruin the day for them.
At minimum, have the orders from everyone days in advance, make a list, deliver said list to Starbucks a couple days before, remind the Starbucks day before, don't be upset when it takes longer then you thought because they forgot because they've been up since 0345 getting the store open, and remember drinks will probably not be perfect or as cold/hot as people want because they all can't come out at once.
Keeping this simple will probably save you and the Starbucks a lot of stress.

I plan on having their orders in advanced as well as back ups in case the store is out of what they want. I’d agree with the regular coffee part if it wasn’t a bridal party full of 20-22 year olds 😂 they won’t drink it 😂😂😂😂
