What’s your nugget? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by OWWizard420
If you had the opportunity (this is your opportunity. One shot.) to pass along one nugget to a new, or even existing, partner to carry on and contribute toward their success with in their store, and company… what would you share?

Remember you’re part of a team, meaning don’t let yourself get super stressed out because you’ve got a team to support you. This has helped me a lot when I have my moments of freaking out at work. This job can’t be done alone, and shouldn’t be expected to be done alone. But to have that supportive team you need to support your team as well, so be kind, respectful, considerate, and welcoming to your fellow partners.

I’ve been super lucky to work at stores with amazing teams of partners, and that’s crucial for the partner experience, customer experience, and functionality of the store.

Yes! I know not every store is lucky to have a solid crew, but I always try to be a team player and support fellow partners because I know I could never do the job alone. My fellow partners get me through it all ✨

Dont let yourself get walked all over by anyone, customers or coworkers alike. You are worth more than that and you are allowed to advocate for yourself. I never allow myself to be spoken down to by anyone (ESPECIALLY not customers, bc it affects how they will treat other employees in the future if you let such behavior slide), you need self respect in life and you deserve it! Ive met too many managers and customers who think just bc youre a barista youll allow any sort of treatment. Dont let it fly and be your biggest advocate. Much love

The pet about “how you let them treat you affects how they will treat others in the future” is FKN a golden nugget!!
I love this paradigm as someone who may have difficulty standing up for myself as easily as for others. I appreciate you friend ✊🏻💜

Of course bro! I try to think of how my reaction towards difficult customers affects others in the future. Remember, no service job pays enough to deal with entitled people treating u like scum!!!

You’re not gonna remember every drink right away. It’s okay to double check drink recipes with your fellow partners.

The job can be incredibly stressful if you let it get to you. But at the end of the day - *it’s just coffee*. For the most part, any mistake made at starbucks can be fixed in less than 3 minutes.

Also, you’re your own worst critic. When you make mistakes you’re generally judging yourself way harsher than your partners ever would. We all mess up drinks and spill things and misunderstand customers every now and then. Don’t dwell on it. Just “Oh no! Anyway…” those mistake moments. (If that makes sense to anyone else 😅).
