why do we melt two liters of ice into four liters of water for cold brew kegs? why isn’t 5 liters of cold water and refrigerating it good enough?

Where’s the confusion? To make a keg of cold brew, you dump the cold brew into the keg. in a cube, you mix together 2L of ice with 4L of water until the ice melts then poor that cold water into the keg. i’m asking why that’s necessary and why can’t you just put 5L of cold water instead of melting ice.

we just pour the cold brew into the keg from the lil bucket and then fill that lil bucket the same amount with cold filtered water and pour that in too. no ice involved

no no i understood the process you explained, that’s just not how we do it at my store, at my store it’s way more than 5L of water and we don’t use ice. we just have it stored in the fridge. we also have nitro and are a pretty busy store so we always have a lot of back ups. so they get left in the fridge for a while, that’s probably why we don’t need to use ice cold water

My store only does the ice if we need to use the kegs right away. I was told the cold brew temp needs to be below 40 for the nitrogen tap to work correctly.

If I remember correctly from when nitro first launched there were two options for making kegs. The first being the 2L ice method and the second was chilling 5L of water for a certain amount of time (I think it’s 4 hours but don’t quote me on that) before adding it to the keg with the cold brew. My store doesn’t have the space to chill water in the fridges so we always do the ice method. I’m sure if you checked partner hub or the iPad you can find the resource for it.
