Is it okay to call out for panic attacks? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by CrazyCanada67
To clarify, I hate calling in sick, even when I’m completely bed ridden. I will go into work so long as I can function properly/test negative for Covid. Lately however, I have been in a constant state of panic attacks for seemingly no reason. I have suffered from panic attacks since I was a kid, but 99.9% of the time they are completely manageable. It’s just during the last few days where they have been crippling to me. I don’t want to let the team down, but I can not imagine a situation where I would be helpful and productive in my current situation. Any advice and/or recommendations would be welcome.

Just say you feel sick, I wouldn’t give specifics.

Whether it be panic attack, sick stomach, or you just need a mental health day, you should call out for being sick. Just sick. They don’t need to know really anything else, with the exception of it being Covid related.

Absolutely it is--take the time you need to recuperate. Panic attacks are no joke, mine were/are so bad that I'm medicated for them and still struggle. There's no shame in calling out sick for anxiety

Panic attacks can be absolutely debilitating. I’ve called off for one (not at Starbucks) and agree that you can just use the umbrella of “sick.”

Please just say sick. In my experience they were awful with mental health.
