I’m a new barista, I’ve only been working a few months now. I get put on bar maybe once or twice a week (i work part time) and i pretty much have everything down so far, except the medicine ball. Yesterday we were slammed and I got an order for one, and I have genuinely never made one before so I had to hand it off to the other person on bar just because we needed to keep things moving quickly, so I wasn’t able to learn. Can someone explain the recipe and steps to me please?

the medicine ball, if i’m not mistaken is also known as the Honey Citrus Mint Tea. it comes with one bag of Jade Citrus mint tea, one bag of peach tranquility, steamed lemonade, honey (or honey blend) and hot water. I believe the water to lemonade is about half and half and there are 2 honeys. I also started a few months ago and this confused me too, especially because people always come in calling it different things

Not also, it's the name we're supposed to refer to it by since it has no actual medicinal capabilities

Yep! Standard is pumps of honey blend syrup, not honey packets, and 1/1/2/2 pumps for short/tall/grande/venti

Standard recipe is 1/1/2/2 honey, and then for shorts and talls you steam lemonade to the short line and then for grandes and ventis you steam lemonade to the tall like, then it’s 1 packet of jade citrus and 1 packet of peach tranquility, then with hot water half way and then the steam lemonade

1/2 steamed lemonade 1/2 water 1 tea bag of jade citrus mint and 1 peach (for ALL sizes) 1/1/2/2 for pumps of honey blend. I recommend this order honey blend, rea bags, water, honey (steam the lemonade while you get the rest together) if your on reg get the tea bags in the cup for the person on bar (you don’t have to but it’s a nice gesture) to add on there are rumors that the medicine ball has 1/1/2/2 of peppermint syrup but I’ve never had that type of order

The other comment is right! Grab some lemonade and pour it into the pitcher (you don’t need the full cup size amount, just half) and steam it while you put either honey blend (full cup pump amounts! ex; grande 4) or if there’s no honey blend, two honey packets. then grab one peach tranquility and one jade citrus (this is true for all sizes) and fill half hot water and half the lemonade!
If you have the extra time because it’s not busy, for any tea with the real honey I like to add a little bit of hot after I put it in and stir it with the stir stick, then add the tea bags, and then the rest of the hot water so that the honey isn’t sitting at the bottom. Same with coffees!

It’s actually 1/1/2/2 for pumps of honey blend!

Fun fact: The Honey Citrus Mint Tea recipe is based off how many honey packets we used to use before there was a syrup. This is a non-standard drink build. 🍯 1/1/2/2

Oh that’s cool! I was never told that, thanks for letting me know!

Well shit—I’ve been making them wrong the last year 💀

Something tells me the customers won't care :)

Better way to do it, squeeze the honey packets into the lemonade and then steam it. No stirring required
IntelligentApricot522 points1y ago
hm, i thought using syrup typed things with the steaming wand was bad cause it could break it over time
ihateyousoymatcha3 points1y ago
With the older machines. With Mastrena 2 you can steam sauces and powders in without it gumming up the steam wand.

Using the shaker it’s strawberry açaí to the base line, cold brew coffee to the water line, add pumps of white mocha, add ice, shake well, enjoy :)
