Not getting scheduled even with open availability? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by rettferdighetrader
I’m really confused about the hours I’m getting. I have availability from 4am-5pm (I can’t go any later usually because of night classes) every day, and on some occasions I stay until close because we’re understaffed, skipping my classes. I’m that desperate for hours. Even with all of this, I’m still getting 21-23 hours a week while my coworkers, even newer ones, are getting 25+ hours. I like to think I’m fairly competent and I can run drive by myself and whip drinks out quickly, but I’m wondering why I’m getting screwed with hours every single week?

You’d really have to ask your store manager. They might not know you want/need over 25 hours.

All baristas and SSVs are hired and classified as part time employees, regardless of how many hours you work. Maybe your SM just schedules 20ish hours for everyone unless requested otherwise

We’ve talked about it. I was getting 18ish hours a week mid February and I asked for more, I initially asked for 25-30 hours when I was hired and I spoke with her about getting more three weeks ago and all I received was a “you and everyone else” flippantly thrown my way. I’m just kind of lost on what to do now and was wondering if anyone here had some insight.

managers are super strict about labor hours, usually they can only schedule a certain amount of hours so that might be their way of telling you they can’t afford to give you more hours. if you desperately need hours, you can try reaching out to people and covering their shifts, ik sometimes i like those 35+ hour workweeks but sometimes im also tired and would rather give the hours to someone else.
