Any tips for a new Barista who’s coming from 6 years of retail? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I’ve worked retail most of my life, but got laid off from my most recent job. I applied to starbucks because I felt as far as employee benefits its deff one of the lesser of evils, Had an interview the next day and got hired on the spot. The store manager seems super nice, and I really liked the environment of the store, it’s on the beach and a newer building (also apparently the highest tipped in the district due to being on beachside according to the manager)but I’m also super nervous and having second thoughts because I’ve never done this kind of work before. I know it’s completely different than what I’m used too, and I really want to make the best of it, but also have heard and read some horror stories, so if there’s any advice anyone has I’d deff recommend it!

i’ve been at starbucks for a few months now and let me tell you, it’s a whole different experience. i personally feel like the people you work with are really make or break and i work with amazing people. it is defo a lot of information at first but just like anything else, overtime it becomes habit

I was a manager at target for a minute and I absolutely love being at Starbucks. It’s amazing compared to the retail life. I have so much energy to do things after work now it’s crazy lol

I would say just go for it! Starbucks is my first job, so coming from no experience at all. I’ve been here almost a year and love it. It’s fast-paced, but I’m sure you’ll be starting out with more skill than I did. You’ll never know how you like it until you try :)

Been with Starbucks for 7 years now. The pros outweigh the cons in my opinion. It’ll be stressful at first but once it clicks you might enjoy it 👍🏼
