Syrup + Shots Memorization? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Born-Ask-7140
Hello everyone! I have just finished my 4th day of training. I have been thrown on both hot and cold bar. The one thing that keep having trouble with is adding the correct number of syrups and expression shots :))
If anyone has any system of memorization or any words of advice, let me know!

Anything helps,

:)

Check the till if you’re unsure!

I had a lockscreen of a cheat sheet with shots and pumps until I memorized it.

For standard hot drinks, smallest sizes get 1 shot (short, tall) and largest (grande, venti) Flat whites use ristretto, and when you hit that R button, remember that you should add an extra shot. (2-2-3-3)

Americanos are stronger so they have extra espresso. They go by 1-2-3-4.

Iced Americanos and Shaken Espressos go by the same shots (2-3-4)

Other iced espresso drinks, like iced lattes, will get an extra shot at a Venti unlike the hot ones. 1-2-3.

Matcha scoops follow 2-3-4 as well! It’s all just practice, you’ll realize it clicks once you’ve done it enough. Ask for some bar practice after training is over and you’ll do great!

What I did, and what works for me is just sit down and write it down over and over again. On your down time between peaks, just make drinks for the practice. Also: never be afraid to ask questions. I still ask “simple” questions all the time and I’ve been at Starbucks for almost two years. You’ll get it eventually, it’s SO MUCH information and it’s okay if you don’t get it right away. Be kind to yourself
