if your manager is already wanting you to become a shift you don’t need any management experience. i didn’t have any. if your SM wants to promote you based on your work at their store and you decide to stay your current store, an application is just a formality anyway.

to develop at another store, submit shift applications for other stores and then tell your manager you would like to transfer to become a shift. in my experience, it would be the same process you have to go through to be promoted at your store. it’s best to apply and then have your sm reach out to the stores you applied to to put in a good word for you and vouch for your work ethic and experience. then you’d interview (ask your manager for interview tools) with SMs from the other stores and if they like you you’d transfer and be promoted and then trained at whatever store you transferred to.
