Reserve Beans Markout (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Jtimby1
I went to a store today and they had the small bag of reserve beans from Papa New Guinea, Ethiopia, etc. My store doesn’t order these so I asked if I can use my markout to get it for free and she said no. Is this actually true? The bag is only a few dollars more than the regular beans, so I don’t know if she was wrong or if Starbucks is that cheap.

Reserve coffee is generally not available for mark out.

If I recall correctly, weren’t you able to mark out reserve beans if they were nearing the end of their distribution season?

This⬆️ however they will put it in the weekly update when it’s available to mark out. They do not all go for mark out unless they have a lot left over at the warehouse as well.

They don’t always announce it in the weekly update

can't you only get the markout from your own store
fuwaldah 3 points 1y ago
You can get your coffee market at any store.

You can get your bean mark out at any company operated store. It’s not looked on favorably to do so because it comes out of the visiting store’s budget instead of the partner’s store budget.

Absolutely nobody cares. Feel free to get your mark out at any store in America. Nobody will look at you unfavorably. Nobody will care.

I don’t think so … I’ve used my markout when I go back home from college in a different state

From what i understand you can get your coffee mark out from any store BUT unless you work in a reserve store you cannot mark out a reserve coffee. I believe only those who work in reserve stores are allowed to mark the reserve coffees out. there could be exceptions like only being able to mark out off season reserve coffees but i only say that because that's what others are saying so i'm not positive on that part.

tl;dr unless you work at a reserve store you cannot mark out a reserve coffee

You can only mark them out when they are at the end of their distribution cycle. The POS won't let you use them as your partner markout.

You're able to mark out reserve beans from PREVIOUS seasons, but not from the CURRENT season. Ethiopia is currently available for markout. I don't think Papua New Guinea is available for markout yet, but I've been out with covid for a couple days so I could be wrong.

It is, Bali is also available right now too.

👀👀👀

i needed some fancy coffee to mark out for my mother-in-law so this is EXCELLENT news

You can.
It just depends on which beans you get.
As of right now you can mark them all out (i believe) I’ve gotten Ethiopia, Brazil, Guatemala, and the Papa New Guinea…

i think it’s a new development as of a month or 2 ago… i remember reading something in a weekly update

Interesting… might have to “accidentally” order some the next time I put one in.

No need to accidentally do anything. Tell your barista to ring in your mark out, if they won’t do it, escalate the chain of command. It’s your right as a partner to try different coffees, that’s what the mark out is for and if you’re able to mark out special roasts, do it for the experience/teaching experience. My SO and I made Ethiopia cold brew because I heard (years ago) that citrus noted coffees taste AMAZING as iced/cold coffee and it’s true!
