Why would it not be? Everything written there has been a rule for at least the last 5 years because this was all made clear when I was first being hired.

This all seems reasonable . It’s really frustrating having nonstop call offs. Or when people are late and others get stuck staying later to cover
Responsible_Snow71093 points1y ago
Yepp and if someone has to leave on time after their shift, if the person coming in right when theyre leaving ends up coming in late, then it may be hard for someone else on the team to go on their breaks

this is how my store feels all the time 😞 it’s exhausting
ObjectiveLogical941333 points1y ago
Literally says it’s the policy 😭
Babeygoo-16 points1y ago
ok! u don’t have to be condescending i was just making sure for a friend at another store i was working and didn’t have time to look up policy but thanks for the response. hope u have a great day

Bravo SM. This is standard for me when taking over a new store.
monzoink19 points1y ago
This is standard, but I can see how this might seem harsh but I can also see this from the perspective of a very annoyed store manager who’s just trying to get the store back on track
Flowerfuls7 points1y ago
Absolutely. I'm all for flexibility, but when people start taking advantage of that they ruin it for everyone else. The fault lies in your co-workers who seem to be abusing the SMs initial understanding.

If you are sick and you don’t have sick time and they still make you come to work?
I’m pretty sure there are exceptions but you better be coming with a real Dr.’s note
GreenTourmaline131 points1y ago
The missed shift can be excused but it's only paid if you've accrued the sick time for it. You still don't have to come in sick acc to this policy enforcement
Accomplished-Bad38561 points1y ago
According to the document: “the only way that absence is protected is by using that sick time.”
mstuver153 points1y ago
This is more than reasonable
NotyourangeLbabe2 points1y ago
That all sounds pretty standard and fair. If you guys can’t follow these rules, that sounds like a team issue.
evilash852 points1y ago
Yes definitely allowed and should be practiced like this at every store! Time and attendance is one of my biggest pet peeves .
Tfett5011 points1y ago
At some point a store has to run and if the partners (mind you, who applied to work at that store) do not meet the requirements and meet the policy the management has the right to do what they need to do in order to run the store. Even if that means firing, replacing with new partners or cutting hours. You can’t control being sick but you can control getting your own shifts covered and communicating appropriately in order to allow the store to continue to run.
Partners showing up late consistently is unacceptable. There should be repercussions to those who abuse the leniency of the management ( who honestly shouldn’t be that lenient).

This is 95% policy. The part that's not true is sick time being used to keep you from being held accountable. If there's a pattern formed and it can be tracked/coached you can still be held accountable. Especially if you're already on a written/final for punctuality and attendance
crispycokecan1 points1y ago
Sounds about right.
gazely_stare1 points1y ago
I've seen all but "Everyone..." and "A missed..." before. Some of it in the Partner Guide I got when I got hired, some of it in letters like this posted in my store.
I've never been required to use sick time for an absence before. Most of the time I haven't used it - saving it up for le big sick (which is covered by LoA anyway oops lol). Nobody has imposed any consequence for this behavior.
