I don't work at licensed but I'm almost positive that's illegal lol.... the taking donations and tossing it in to the register thing i mean...

They say it is to "prevent theft from customers and staff while the kiosk is closed". But shouldn't that money remain separate from the register then? It seems very shady.

It’s incredibly illegal. If you can, try to record some footage of them doing what you said. There’s no way your boss’s boss would be okay with registers being over that amount of money consistently, so someone is just pocketing that cash. Customers are unwittingly donating to someone’s profit instead of the local children’s hospital..

What kind of licensed store are you at? Who is your store manager’s superior? This is absolutely something that needs to be documented and reported.

Without saying it outright, it is owned by the Jim Pattison Group (Canada) and the donations are supposed to go to the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital.

It has been our store manager both times, who has told me that it goes directly in the till at the end of night, whether it is a dime or $5. Then proceeds to put it in the till as me and the other baristas refuse to do so (we all started here three weeks ago).

Edit: we do have a district manager that pops in once a week or so.
