Starting Monday! (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Cautious_Season1828
Hello all! I am starting training on Monday and this is my first time having any sort of job, are there any things I should be aware of or tips that might be helpful? Thank you!

It might seem like a lot at first but that’s completely normal! Give it some time and after enough practice things will become easier and easier. Good luck!

if it isn’t obvious already: be excited and eager to learn! being a barista is honestly a really fun job. try you best to pay attention and to try to remember the processes of different things (sequencing, brewing drip coffee, preps, etc) and the dates different things expire at! my manager has a thing where she likes to walk around and completely randomly ask any barista an expiration timeframe for any given backup (mocha sauce, refresher inclusions, iced coffees, etc)

and don’t be afraid to ask questions!!! the point of training is to teach you, so if you don’t understand, be sure to bring it up and have some confirmation.

finally, be easy on yourself! it takes aprox. 3 months to be fully comfortable in the store with everything, and the best way you’re going to learn is through experience so don’t be afraid when your trainer is gonna throw you on the floor alone!

have fun!! i seriously really enjoy being a barista.
