try getting a managers card and email them from there to see how come they always say hiring but won’t get back to you. sometimes managers suck and just choose to not say anything.

but the website for my location literally say hiring for barista & shift lead…. for a while… plus a barista told me “i can’t imagine that we’re not hiring rn… we always are”

it’s happened a lot with my previous manager that he wouldn’t hire people when we needed people. if you call the store half the time it wouldn’t be the manager. the website can say one thing but the manager can just ignore applications unfortunately. whatever the case get the card and email them and if they don’t respond there should be another card for the district manager and ask them why this location just completely ignores you. i wish you the best of luck!

i went in and talked to a manager & basically what she said was “as long as you put ur application in there’s nothing you can do but wait. if we are hiring someone will call you but i’m not sure if we’re hiring right now. if we are they’ll call u & set up an interview. if you have open availability you will get priority.” she kept saying “they” as if it’s someone else who does all the hiring. plus i have completely open so why would i get an email not even TWO days later????

sorry i missed this comment tbh it could be an assistant manager or a temporary one. either way i hope it’s not the legit manager cause the way they spoke to you is literally brushing you off smh

i know smh. i have a friend who worked at the second location i applied at & she told me she doesn’t know why they won’t give me the time of day. she’s the reason i applied at the other. sadly that one’s 20 mins from my house & id really like to get on 5 mins away but it is what it is

If you went in and asked for a manager they probably referred you to the shift supervisor that was currently working since they were the manager on duty. That’s what would happen at my store, and as I shift I would give a similar answer since only the store manager has access to applications and hiring. Also we are required to keep up the now hiring signs even if we aren’t, which is kind of annoying. I would suggest maybe applying at a different store close to you? If your availability is open and they are hiring you should hear something back. Good luck!

It is hard to get hired I think at least for an entry level job. Just keep applying is all I can say… I applied over and over and finally got 1 call back after doing multiple stores. The interview is long as well mine was 2 hours total. Good luck!

It all depends on the manager and most locations get hundreds of applications regularly. I don't believe the managers even check them all, they probably can filter out for what they're looking for and from there they look for candidates. Even if you have open availability if there are others with more years of experience, experience as baristas or leadership positions, they've left a resume, spoken to the manager in person and left a good impression, or they were recommended by a current partner then they usually tend to get an interview sooner. It really depends on what the manger is looking for, but most tend to hire in the summer because its when students tend to leave the company and before the holidays. Experience and open availability doesn't tend to guarantee you get hired though since most applicants have those things.

sometimes companies will get grants from the state if they advertise that they’re hiring (like unemployment just saying you have to look for work) but they never check or ask for proof, so even if they’re understaffed and actually need more employees, it’s free money

Could be your availability doesn’t match with what they need

i have completely open availability
