When customers try to customize food… 😑(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Jaded_Fun_7133
Does anyone else get so mad when people are like “can I have a *food item* (ex. bacon egg sandwhich) on an English muffin” or just like try to customize food other than taking egg/meat/cheese off. Idk I get so annoyed like do you think we have a whole ass kitchen in here ???

Love when people ask for extra meat/cheese/egg and don't take "sorry we can't do that, it's premade" for an answer
If you want to pay for two sandwiches I'd be more than happy to throw the extra patty onto one sandwich
This isn't Dunkin
Ristrettooo89 points1y ago
It’s not like Starbucks goes out of their way to make sure customers know the breakfast sandwiches all come frozen in plastic bags. Similar stores like Dunkin let people customize food. I can’t blame them. (It’s still funny when people ask for tomato or ketchup and mustard though)

Maybe im just an annoyed person idk lol it just bothers me because our whole bar and food area is open so people can see what we are doing and clearly don’t see a bunch of meat and stuff to make sandwiches
Legitimate-Second-3511 points1y ago
I was about to say this lol, I don’t work at Starbs but I go daily and I can see them make my pre-made frozen food . I would never have the audacity to ask for customized food

i love the ketchup questions 😂😂 we work in a particularly caucasian part of town and when i say “no sorry, we only have hot sauce” they get SO offended. the sriracha isn’t even that hot 😭😭
sammieduck6942013 points1y ago
I literally CANNOT consume a single thing at starbucks without drowning it in sriracha
The bacon Gouda with sriracha and a dot of honey 🔥
nicolelynnejones12 points1y ago
I wish the foods just came with flavor naturally because I’m tired of everything tasting like sriracha 😭 Like the sriracha is really good but I need some variety in my life!!

The bacon sausage wrap with guacamole is heavenly!

Here in NJ, ketchup is a breakfast sandwich staple, so it's extra fun reminding people we are a Starbucks and not a diner.
anonbaristaandstuff4 points1y ago
Also in NJ and almost every day we get people asking for a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel with ketchup 🫥
CoffeeChesirecat5 points1y ago
As much as I love me a classic Jersey breakfast/hangover cure, WHY do people come to Starbucks for this lol
anonbaristaandstuff2 points1y ago
Fr there’s so many better bagel places not even five minutes down the road. And it’s probably cheaper + better quality
xtina_rosee1 points1y ago
My NJ location had ketchup, but I left in 2017. Has that changed?
CoffeeChesirecat1 points1y ago
I started in 2019 and never had ketchup. We do keep a bottle in the back for partners though.
Wonderpumpkin_73 points1y ago
Honestly I blame Starbucks, they allow ridiculous modifications on beverages, why would customers know the food is any different
Jaded_Fun_7133 [OP]20 points1y ago
True i hate they let them do anything na do feel like it’s only getting worse
GuySmileyIncognito32 points1y ago
The lack of knowledge is fine. Almost all of them will go oh that's fine when you tell them they're premade. It's the very small percentage of people who still push for something after you've told them that are the issue.
Jaded_Fun_7133 [OP]11 points1y ago
There we go you said it better than me
Necessary_Low93911 points1y ago
“We are not Dunkin’ Donuts.”
Momisnotmyname11 points1y ago
No, I just let them know they are premade.
P_2_P10 points1y ago
Ay my old store we used to get “I’ll take the double smoked bacon on an everything bagel.”
Jaded_Fun_7133 [OP]1 points1y ago
Well that actually sounds really good lmao
killjoy04569 points1y ago
i had someone want extra pesto on a turkey pesto sandwich and they were not happy when i told them i literally could not put more on it
impasse6028 points1y ago
I had a lady come through the DT and ask for a sausage and egg with the double the patty meat so we told her that we would have to charge her for two sandwiches. She then said ok but for the second one give me extra meat also and we again tood her we will hve to charge her for 4 sandwiches and this woman thought we had a whole kitchen and restaurant shit goin on inside like bruh
Assiqtaq8 points1y ago
I had someone ask for sausage and bacon on a sandwich. I was like, the only way I could do that was if you bought both at full price. It is premade, I am in a KIOSK. THERE IS NO BACK ROOM KITCHEN!
aee783 points1y ago
Had that happen and they guy was like okay. He added the sausage egg and cheese to the double smoked. Took the sausage's egg home for his dog.
Assiqtaq2 points1y ago
Crazy, but I guess if that is what he wants.
aee785 points1y ago
I was like not my money.
Melp877 points1y ago
Someone asked if I could add some basil and tomato to her sandwich. A guy asked for a cup of water with fresh lemon and ginger- I just don’t understand why.
RinnTheOtter6 points1y ago
I don’t get annoyed per say… I mostly just giggle because it’s one of those “I’m a barista so I could do it for myself, but unless you want to pay for both sandwiches, it’s a no from me.”
_luziferr_6 points1y ago
i’ve had someone ask me to put ham on her grilled cheese 💀
himynametopher5 points1y ago
I don’t think the average customer realizes how shitty starbucks food is. Like brother you’re getting a jimmy dean sandwich and if you don’t want it how it is simply go to somewhere that actually makes breakfast.
Final-Ad-58564 points1y ago
Someone was genuinely so taken aback the other day because we didn’t have fresh veggies to add to his sandwich…
ArialynnSilver4 points1y ago
In Kentucky we constantly get asked for grape jelly with sandwiches and when I tell them sorry no they're still visibly confused/upset
PauseAccording203 points1y ago
Out of all the things, this doesn’t bother me much. I live in New England where there’s a dunkin on every corner, so I assume most people are used to being able to customize and they just don’t know that Starbucks doesn’t
noelbert733 points1y ago
i bet you, due time, we’ll have to start customizing food. we’ll start adversiting like “build your own breakfast sandwich!”
Babs92201 points1y ago
No, most don't know they're premade and I've only gotten "no meat(or)cheese" which is so easy to do and we don't have a lot of vegetarian options. No problem at all.
fuwaldah-1 points1y ago
>Does anyone else get so mad...
No. I mean, some people might. But if you get mad, you need to calm down. It's just a request. They're asking because they don't know. They don't work here. They don't know what we know. It's not a personal thing. Just say no.
