Worried I’ll get fired for this?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by TheSuffered
So I just started 3 weeks ago, I was working drive window for the most part it went good then I worked Window and Order, and that was fine until there was a bunch of customers and I remembered there was an order on the screen that wasn’t supposed to be there and instead of cancelling it I accidentally rang it as cash, and closed the drawer and I told a coworker about it and they like did some stuff on the refund screen but it looked like they just gave up on trying to figure out how to fix it. And told me to not worry about it…
And I’m worried I’ll get fired for this considering I just got the job.
I really need this job to I haven’t had benefits or anything for years… and outside of that there’s just a lot of things I like way more about Starbucks than at my last job which overworked me I feel like I messed up big time but I’m not sure if I should call a lead about it or not. I told the person who trained me as wel and they weren’t sure…
I don’t wanna get fired I don’t work for 5 days now so don’t really have a chance to clear it up. Idk if calling would be appropriate or not…

You're not going to get fired for this, trust me. Just make sure that you tell either your SSV and/or SM the next time you see them. If they haven't made a fuss about it yet, then it's a 80/20% chance that they've already fixed it.
This has happened to the best of us. Communication is key. 😁

What’s an SSV? Sorry still new like I said, I know SM stands for store manager but what does SSV stand for.

Shift Supervisor. 😀

Your shift supervisor would be the person telling you where to be and when to go on your breaks!

A single order accidentally being rang in as cash should be fine as long as no cash was accepted because your drawer will still balance out even at the end of the night. Definitely tell a manger or supervisor so they can void the transaction but even if they don’t you will be totally fine!
This happens almost every day and is a purely innocent mistake that I see even the most experienced partners make :)

I did this a lot when starting out! I’m still fairly new (three months) and still make mistakes like this once in awhile. As long as you tell the manager or shift supervisor when it happens, you should be just fine. It’s an honest mistake and nothing will happen to you. :)

Yeah, definitely just tell a shift supervisor. In the moment, just tell your shift, so they can fix it. Other baristas are limited on what they can do as far as refunds, and I PERSONALLY wouldn't trust a fellow barista to try to fix my cash handling error.
Stuff like that happens relatively frequently--especially if you are just starting out. As long as you know you messed up, you let the right person know, and learn from it... you should be good!

You'll get fired if you keep doing that. Just once is ok.
