i get a customer deadass almost every day who asks for a latte with three “squirts” of vanilla. STOP SAYING SQUIRTS DUDE. SAY PUMPS. it’s so weird because he always annunciates it so clearly and loudly. he’s always like “𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘪 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘢 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘚 𝘘 𝘜 𝘐 𝘙 𝘛 𝘚 𝘰𝘧 𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢” NO UOU CANT DUDE. STOP IT. STOP BEING WEIRD MAN. and then he watches us while we make it and like stares at us. creepin me out dude

I LOVE SQUIRTS! I also like it when customers call the syrup “shots” like can I have four shots of caramel. It cracks me up every time.

Had a guy fairly recently asked for a Frappuccino with two shots. Can't remember what flavor Frap, doesn't really matter anyway. I made it, handed it out, and he said "did you put two shots of chai in it like I asked? Doesn't taste like you put the two shots of chai in it." Definitely felt like punching him in the face. I mean, he was kind of rude anyway.

Remade it and told him, next time ask for pumps of chai, not shots. Shots is espresso, and you're gonna confuse me by asking for shots of chai. That being said, he definitely did not specify a flavor when he asked for the shots. But if he had asked for pumps I would have clarified. Shots though is a one and done request.

very similar story at our store! customer ordered a chai latte “with two shots,” got rang up for a chai latte with a double shot of espresso, came back to complain that he meant two “shots” of chai 🙃

Oh dude at my store we call caramel crunch fraps with extra caramel drizzle “cummumel cumnch craps with extra camel jizzle.”

And when people want the extra extra extra caramel anything drinks we just say we are browning the cups (:

I think “pump” could also be interpreted in a dirty way, but maybe since it’s the standard term the innuendo/association isn’t as strong?

My favorite is when they do the cup sleeving motion (althought it has changed now, I believe you guys let the customers sleeve their own cups?)



It looks very inappropriate lol

At least when i worked it was part of the process to put on a sleeve. When a customer drops theirs or want another they'd do the motion over the cup.

It’s literally everything BUT “pumps.”
I get why people say “shots” even though that still leads to confusions because does three shots = three pumps? Or does it equal three fluid ounces/shot glasses?

But “squirts” just sounds so gross.

I’ve also heard “splashes” and “teaspoons.” And some others that I don’t remember anymore.

i had someone ask for a shot of a flavor in a latte when freshly out of training, didn’t think to clarify so i made it with one pump. dude flipped his lid and then i found out he wanted the normal amount of pumps 💀 needless to say i always clarify now
